Just a Stitch or Two....

Home Again

Well, we got home on Sunday, and I haven't been able to get back into my routine yet. We had a wonderful time. The weather was good for the most part. We had one day of rain, and the rest of the week was nice. We so enjoyed having the kids there with us. Some of them came with us the first of the week and left on Wednesday, and the others came down on Wednesday night.

I got a little reading done, but never got to my stitching. I had time, but spent it just relaxing and watching the ocean from our deck.

The picture to the left is L to R: Jason (one of the twins), me, Coleman, Amber (the other twin)
next to me, Emily the oldest daughter, Joe behind her to her right and Alex right next to Emily.
This picture doesn't have Jon, Brian, Chris, and my oldest son Jason. I wish they could have all been there. This was taken at the aquarium.

I am going to try to get back to stitching now that all the vacations for the year are finished. Also, back to trying to lose weight.

Just a few words before we go on vacation. I am getting laundry done and cleaning the house in
preparation for our trip Sunday. Today while I was out doing last minute things I was listening to a CD by Casting Crowns and the Holy Spirit impressed on me to take the CD to my friend, Donna, that had a stroke back in February. She has been so depressed and feeling so alone. The song was,' Praise You in This Storm'. It really touches me and I pray that it will be a blessing to her.

I was sure by now
That You would have reached down
And wiped our tears away
Stepped in and saved the day
But once again, I say 'Amen', and
it's still raining

As the thunder rolls
I barely hear You whisper
through the rain
"I'm with you"
And as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise
the God who gives
and takes away

I'll praise You in this storm
And I will lift my hands
For You are who You are
No matter where I am
Every tear I've cried
You hold in Your hand
You never left my side
And though my heart is torn
I will praise you in this storm

I remember when
I stumbled in the wind
My strength is almost gone
How can I carry on
If I can't find You

I lift my eyes unto the hills
Where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord
The Maker of Heaven and Earth
Words by Mark Hall/Music by Mark Hall and Bernie Herms

I am so thankful that You are there Lord, even when we feel so alone!

Why are thou cast down, O my soul? And why art thou disquieted in me? Hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise Him for the help of His countenance.

This will probably be my last post until after my vacation. I hope to get some stitching done, and lots of pictures taken. God bless you all!

Stash

Here are 2 books I got today that I ordered from Amazon.

Just a quick note

Just wanted to write a quick note. Not much going on except getting ready for our beach trip. I am so looking forward to this vacation. I just want to relax and watch and listen to the ocean. I love the sound of the waves as they come in. S0 far it looks like tropical storm Florence will go out to sea. At least that is the forcast of where it will go. Keeping my prayers going up!

Last night after work, Jason talked to me about God for a long time. He has been going with his girlfriend to church this week. Her church is having camp meeting. He is really enjoying it, and I believe he is under conviction. I am praying that he will answer Gods call for salvation. It is my deepest desire that my whole family comes to the Lord.

And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised,
he was able also to perform. Romans 4:21

This is my verse for the day. This is to help me remember that God can do all things He has promised.

I did do a little stitching last night. I didn't get alot done, but if I stitch every evening, I will make good progress.

Trying to Get This Right

I finally decided to start a blog. I have been thinking about it for a long time, but have been kind of going back and forth or rather I wanted one or not. I don't want to start this and not ever update it. I want to include not only my cross stitching, but my vacations, family, books, and my Christian walk as well.

I love to cross stitch and right now I am working on Mystery Quaker Sampler which is a SAL on the Wiehenburg yahoo group. I got behind (as usual) and am only on page 6 of 18. I think most people have finished this already. I am plodding along and hope to have it finished in the next few weeks. This is a picture of what I have done so far.

I also have so much stash. I believe I have reached S.A.B.L.E. , but I keep buying more. I just have to rationalize that I am not only a stitcher but a collector of patterns, floss, fabric.....

I will be adding more pictures of my stitching as I go along. I also hope this will keep me motivated to keep stitching! I have a tendency to stay online too late and end up not stitching at all.

We are getting ready for a week at the beach. We are going to Emerald Isle,NC on Sunday and staying a week. Hopefully the hurricane will go out to sea. Maybe I will have some good photos to publish when I get back.
